5 Fun Earth Day Craft Ideas

1. Recycled Bottle Planters

Turn empty plastic bottles into adorable planters! Cut a bottle in half, paint the bottom portion with fun colors or animal faces, and fill it with soil and seeds or small plants.

This craft not only gives new life to plastic waste but also encourages kids to care for plants and learn about sustainability. It’s a great hands-on way to show how we can reuse everyday items instead of throwing them away.

2. Egg Carton Critters

Don’t toss those egg cartons – transform them into cute critters instead! Cut apart the cups, paint them, and glue on googly eyes, pipe cleaner legs, and paper wings or ears to create ladybugs, bees, frogs, and more.

This simple upcycling craft teaches children how to creatively reuse materials while having tons of fun bringing their little creatures to life.

3. Paper Roll Bird Feeders

Help our feathered friends while reducing waste! Use empty toilet paper rolls to create bird feeders by spreading peanut butter on the outside and rolling them in birdseed.

Slide the finished roll onto a tree branch and watch the birds enjoy. This eco-friendly project is quick, easy, and a great way to talk about protecting wildlife and supporting local ecosystems.

4. Earth Collage from Scrap Paper

Gather leftover scraps of paper, old magazines, or junk mail and turn them into a beautiful Earth Day collage. Cut the scraps into small pieces and glue them onto a large circle outline to create a mosaic-style Earth.

You can even add messages like “Love Our Planet” or “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” This craft is both artistic and educational, showing kids how to repurpose materials while making something meaningful.

5. Nature Paintbrushes

Head outdoors and collect sticks, leaves, pine needles, and blades of grass – then use them to create your own natural paintbrushes! Tie the natural materials to sticks with string or rubber bands, dip them in paint, and experiment with the different textures they create on paper.

This activity blends creativity with nature exploration and highlights how many beautiful materials we can find without needing to buy anything new.
